A new monthly seminar series on computational biology has just begun at LSU. These seminars are targeted towards undergraduates and intended to stimulate student interest in the intersection of biology and computation. This semester, students will learn about exciting research being done by new faculty here in LSU's Dept. of Biological Sciences. Dr. Brown kicked off the series on Sept. 9th with his talk, titled "Models, Genomes, and Trees: Computational Inferences of Evolutionary History". The next talk will be given by Dr. Michal Brylinski on Oct. 7th and is titled "Computational Biology, Drug Discovergy, and Xbox 360".
All seminars this semester begin with a social and refreshments in the Life Science Annex Atrium at 5pm, followed by the talk and Q&A from 5:30-6:30.
More information on this seminar series, including upcoming talks, and archived video of previous talks can be found here: http://lbrn.lsu.edu/events/comp-bio/.
